Step 5. Strengths & Weaknesses

Do you know your own strengths and weakness? Do you utilize them to improve your training and performance or do you just ignore your weaknesses and focus on your strengths? This can be mental and it can be physical.

Knowing your strengths and weaknesses in wrestling isn’t just helpful — it’s essential if you want to grow and compete at the highest level.  Too many athletes focus only on what they’re good at, avoiding uncomfortable positions or drills that expose their flaws. But the truth is, success in this sport isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being prepared. The more honest you are with yourself about where you dominate and where you struggle, the more focused and efficient your training becomes. Your strengths become weapons. Your weaknesses become tools for growth. The more I get to know you, the more I will be able to help you utilize your strengths and weaknesses.

Having a clear picture of your skillset allows you to double down on what gives you an edge — whether it’s speed, strength, technique, or mat awareness — while also strategically working to bring your weaker areas up to speed. It’s not about fixing everything overnight. When I help you apply a growth mindset to this process, you stop seeing your weaknesses as threats and start seeing them as opportunities. That’s when everything changes.

Every champion understands that growth isn’t just a straight line up. Some days you’ll dominate practice, other you will not. Both are valuable. By embracing both your strengths and weaknesses in training and competition, you give yourself the best chance to compete at your highest level — not just once, but consistently. Excellence is earned through honest self-assessment, relentless improvement, and the discipline to evolve your game day by day. I have been through it and done it, and now I will help you do the same. You will never look back.
